This monday, after spending almost 2 hours shifting to the next chair in the queue and waiting for almost 2 hours at the Submission and Verification counter at the Passport Office, Kormangala, Mom and I decided to have lunch on our way home. So, I suggested Hotel Empire on Church Street. I had been there once before for a buffet lunch and it wasn't worth even half the price. But thought the 'regular food' might be something that mom and I could enjoy eating. Being completely tired , we ordered a 'Veg Thali' each as it would be sufficient enough and could get it quicker too.
After about 10 min got our "Thali". They've introduced something called "Coin Parota", which is not bigger than the size of your palm. Well, digging in, realized that the food was not even close to tasting good. The "dal" was seemed undercooked. Another brinjal curry/sambar was smelled as though it was rotten, which I realized only after taking a bite with rice. And the so called rasam was just water with drops of oil and some color.
Couldn't eat anything in the ordered "thali" except the Fruit salad that was given. Mom was pissed off. The price of the "thali" is Rs.85. If I had to fix a price for the same, it would be 15bucks, only because of the fruit salad. Mom complained to the Manager soon as we realized that it was real bad. But the olfactory dysfunctioned Manager told us that it was perfectly normal.
I just stayed quiet and let mom do the complaining, thinking that the Manager would realize the bad service and do something about it. He telling us that it was "perfectly okay" just pissed me off. This guy must have had his olfactory organs removed as a free offer when he was circumcised, I thought. Blasted him for saying its "okay", when clearly it was smelling rotten. He told us to report to his senior, another Jackass who I complained to on our way out(we paid the bill btw!). The senior jackass was also arrogant enough to defend himself/miserable quality hotel without actually having a look/smell/taste the so called food that was served to us. I took out a 100 rupee note, kept it on the table and challenged him to give it to ANY customer in the hotel and if they said that it was atleast close to consumable, he could keep it. But the bonehead either didn't understand or he didn't want get spit on the face by another customer. As we walked out of the hotel, I vowed never to go there again.
When the Manager was so confident about the rotten smelling curry even without smelling, I should have just splashed it on his face(hhmm....thats something I will definitely do the next time some bonehead manager behaves the same way).
Well, my point is, nowadays, when customer satisfaction is the topmost priority and companies(whatever the industry/field maybe) try to go the extra mile to make the customer feel happy by providing a good service, the behavior of the authorities at the popular Hotel Empire was not at all acceptable. Thats been the worst food and service I have ever received ever!
All those of you who decide to go this Hotel sometime, I suggest you give it a second thought.
